My Dad’s untimely death from suicide has left me in a constant state of frustrated wondering. This past Father’s Day, it all bubbled to the surface as I watched another family celebrate at a nearby restaurant table, and I began to imagine all the things my Dad would have experienced had suicide not disrupted God’s plan for him. In this next post at www.SeeyaBub.com/blog, I’ll talk about the ever-present wondering that’s occurred throughout my grief that perplexes and frustrates me to this day. What would Dad have looked like as he aged? What would he have done in retirement? How would he have interacted with his growing family? And what kind of grandfather would he have been? Ultimately, I know my Dad is at peace in heaven; but I’d give just about anything to see him experience a chapter of his life that he desperately deserved. Almost six years removed from his death, Father’s Day continues to bring a sense of pain and sadness each year at the thought of what our family lost; however, there’s also a simultaneous happiness when I think of all the wonderful days we spent together, and joy knowing that, someday, we will see each other again.
